Golfers:
I’m sure you know that
all quality non-profit organizations need financial resources to achieve
their goals. As the prime sponsor of the Alaska Academic Decathlon, GCI
considers the Decathlon to be one of those quality organizations, and
hosting a golf tournament is a fun way to encourage other businesses to
get involved.
The GCI Alaska Academic
Decathlon has these basic means of generating financial support: Private
Contributions; and our summer Golf Tournament & Silent Auction. Your
contribution to this organization is, and will always be critical to our
success. All the funds raised from the golf tournament go directly to the
scholarship fund. To date the GCI Alaska Academic Decathlon has awarded
scholarships totaling over $150,000 to high school students in Alaska. As
you can see we have accomplished a great deal over the 16 years that this
academic program has been in existence, but more still needs to be
accomplished.
Here is how you can help:
• Sponsor one
of the events listed in our golf brochure.
• Pay the entry
fee for your office to have a foursome.
• Get your boss
to pay your entry fee so you can play. (Singles will be placed in
a foursome)
• Provide us
with a great saleable item(s) for our auction.
• Be a
trophy/prize sponsor. (Provide prizes for our tournament winners)
• Sponsor an
item for the golfer’s goody bag. (Golf balls, tees, energy bars,
water, etc.)
When you participate in
our Golf Tournament, you will have a chance to win fabulous (?) prizes,
bring fame and glory to your business, be the winning bidder on
extravagant items at a steal of a price during the silent auction, have an
excuse to play 18 holes of golf and most importantly, you’ll be helping
a lot of Alaskan kids enhance their education.
The tournament is sold
out every year. We also appreciate any
support you can give us in sponsoring this event. Remember, the GCI Alaska
Academic Decathlon is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 nonprofit
organization and your contributions are tax deductible to the extent of

You can register on line
for the tournament each year.
Remember, hitting the
little round white ball in the right direction and for the correct
distance (like Tiger) isn’t the only reason to play golf.
